Our Campaign Optimization Groups serve two purposes:
To set a unique Target ACOS for a group of campaigns
To reference a larger data set when an individual campaign has low data
For example: If a campaign has no data for Top of Search, our optimization groups allow us to reference the Top of Search conversion rate for a group of similar campaigns to more effectively optimize the placement settings for the low-data campaign.
To take advantage of our Optimization Groups feature, you should group campaigns by similar performance. There's no single right way to do this, but here are some ideas you can try:
Group campaigns by targeting tactic - Example: brand defense, non-brand, and conquesting as three separate optimization groups
Group campaigns by product / product group - This can work especially well if you are employing a Single Product Campaign strategy
